Accepting new clients! The journey towards mental wellbeing is filled with multifaceted complexities. As your therapist, allow me to support and empower you to overcome a multitude of life circumstances ranging from anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Language and cultural barriers should not hinder one's ability to achieve mental wellness. My experience working with diverse communities has provided me with a cultural lens that can be used to guide you through this mental wellness journey. I aim to help my clients discover their own inner peace and spread that tranquility to the world around them. I utilize talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution focused therapeutic modalities to help clients conquer mood disorders, improve relationships, cope with trauma, and addressing racial disparities affecting the BIPOC community. In our initial phone and/or email consult, I will be able to answer any questions and concerns surrounding the therapeutic modalities I incorporate into my practice, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, and more.

I have been trained in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and systems-centered methods. I often draw upon wisdom, humor, and science to facilitate positive change. Whatever the challenge -- emotional, relational, or other -- we'll address it together.

Your voice and perspective as a woman or girl are celebrated here. This is a dedicated space where you can be comfortable discussing female centered topics and experiences. I believe that social interactions, societal stresses and unique biology impact girls and women in ways that require a female centered lens for mental health treatment. Coming to therapy knowing this is a specialized practice can lead to greater comfort exploring trauma and female specific issues. These deeper conversations build the therapeutic alliance and increase the potential that women and girls will see improvement in their mental health symptoms

Lenora Benson-Lavender Light Renewed Counseling
Hey Hey Hey! I’m Lenora Benson (She/Her/Hers), LICSW and I support black and ethnic minority women, in navigating the challenges and expectations imposed on them by the fallacy of the strong black women. I support all women in navigating the social expectations, stressors, and demands of being woman, as they intersect in all areas of racism, sexism, and patriarchism. I believe in the transformative power of therapy, because it has transformed me personally. As your therapist, I provide a safe, supportive, and judgement free space for you to explore your emotions, heal from past wounds, and journey from darkness to the light. My goals are to help those struggling with low self-esteem, people pleasing tendencies, and high-achieving perfectionism, dismantle the beliefs that keeps them stuck in patterns of behavior that leave them feeling like imposters; never good enough, never smart enough. Working with me will allow you to begin to make decisions for yourself that leave you feeling loved, worthy, and empowered.

HOPE AND HELP FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIP Your relationship is deeply important so the sooner it warms up, the better. We’ll find positive, practical steps you can take to make quick progress toward the shared future you long for, without dwelling on past problems or your childhood. You can stop the arguing, improve communication, recover from affairs, end abuse, enjoy satisfying sex, renew commitment, and rediscover the joy you once felt. What to expect from our work together: From my own life and my work as a counselor, I know how hard it is to stay connected over the long term. I also know it’s worth it. My research-based approach dramatically reduces the risk of separation and divorce. Your relationship is worth fighting for. Together, we can: -- Bring back warmth and connection -- Overcome frustrating sexual issues -- Make sense of your mixed-orientation marriage or relationship -- Put an end to hurtful and abusive behavior The first step is the most important. Having an experienced guide and a safe, structured environment makes a big difference as you rebuild your relationship. Let’s get started! Life can be a lot! There are times when people may feel hopeless, isolated, or like they have no choice but to struggle alone. As a queer person, I know the importance of connection and community. My goal is to offer a space where you can feel safe in vulnerability and supported in facing challenges. I work primarily with adults and college-aged individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in emotion-focused, relational work. I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities to find the best fit for your unique needs, believing that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Being ready to start therapy doesn’t mean you have to feel ready to dive in head-first. Sometimes, the first challenge is simply taking that first step. If you want to do that, I will meet you at your pace with honesty, care, and respect as we work together toward understanding and change.
