Susan Patterson
Hi! I'm Susan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist trained as a medical and psychiatric social worker. I've built my career around the connection between physical and mental health, and I often work with people facing more than one challenge at once. Trauma, grief and loss, and significant anxiety are some of the areas I help clients with most.
I'm an educator as much as a therapist. I want you to understand the why and how of what you're going through, along with the choices you have for working through it. I love helping people uncover the layers of their history and make changes so they can enjoy the present more. After all these years, my clients are still my biggest inspiration. Their courage and willingness to open up to change is what makes this work so rewarding.
As your therapist, I promise to listen, be honest, and tell you what you need to hear, not just what you want to hear. Therapy can feel scary, but think of me as a bright light in your darkest places. One of my favorite sayings sums it up: "Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away." Those "aha" moments are what therapy is all about.
